THE 'DE FRANCIS' SERIES This is a series of closely integrated sets of texts in spoken and written Chinese. The spoken texts provide in pinyin romanization a carefully graded series of texts from beginning to advanced while the character versions provide in character form the same material found in the transcription series. The reading series take the learner from the beginning level through to the advanced level. The entire series is structured to emphasize overlap and repetition. It has been used with success at both the college and pre-college levels. The series is detailed below for the convenience of the learner.
